My name is "Bronco" Bill Martin and I have been a part of Camp STIX since 2004. I am serving on the board assisting primarily with the medical side of camp, after serving 2 terms as board president. My wife, Wasabi Wendy, and I have 2 boys, ages 13 and 15, who both have Type 1 Diabetes. As a Physician Assistant, I work directly with hundreds of children and teens with diabetes, in the Pediatric Diabetes clinic at Sacred Heart Children's Hospital. I am continually reminded of the benefits of camp, not only in my own sons, but also in the patients I see nearly every day. Camp does something far greater than provide excitement and education; it allows our campers to have the support of their peers, whose friendship and empathy is priceless. This results in increased self-confidence, courage, and independence. My motivation is to give our campers whatever support they need or ask for, to make a positive difference, so they can learn to be successful with their diabetes.

My experience with Camp STIX began as a volunteer on the medical team when I was a student pharmacist in 2006. In 2010 I changed roles to Secretary on the Board of Directors and Program Director. I look forward to continued service with Camp STIX in the future.
I graduated from WSU with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 2007. I also hold a BA in Communication Disorders and an MS in Education of the Hearing Impaired. I taught for five years at the Washington State Schools for the Deaf and Blind and as a Basic Skills Teacher for the Evergreen School District in Vancouver, WA. I completed a pharmacy residency at Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee, WA in 2008, and continue to be an adjunct faculty member for WSU. I am currently Director of Continuing Professional Development for the Washington State Pharmacy Association where I organize continuing education for pharmacists, technicians, and students.

Hello there, my name is "Cardio" Chris Lewis. I am a family practitioner currently working in community health. I have been involved with MASH since 2007, which is the year I started coming to camp STIX with my daughter as this is when she was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. That first year at Camp STIX was life changing for me, and since then I have functioned as med-staff, and in 2009 was Target's "right hand man," team leader, and coordinating MASH services. This is my first year on the Camp STIX board of directors, and I am looking forward to the added responsibility that this carries. In addition to my board certification as a family nurse practitioner, I am also a certified asthma educator and clinical exercise specialist. I am finishing my second Master's degree in the fall of 2010, and coach distance runners for Junior Olympics. It is a full life..and we need to live every day of it! Carpe Diem!

Hi! My name is Levemir Lynn Sander. This will be my 4th year as a Team Leader at Camp STIX, my 3rd as a part of the Medical Commiittee, and I am very excited to participate as a board member for the first time this year as well. The kids are inspiring at camp as they take on the challenges of living life to the fullest with diabetes. As an RN, I work as a Pediatric Diabetic Educator and get to meet these incredible children and families every day; as a Type 1 diabetic, I enjoy the enthusiasm and comradery of being part of this community. Here's to another year of fun!

Hi, my name is Mike "Major" Poutiatine and I have been working with Camp STIX since 2009. I currently teach for Gonzaga University, and also run a small educational research and consulting firm here in Spokane. Along with my wife Sally, we are parents to Hailey Poutiatine who has type 1 diabetes, and was a Camp STIX camper in 2008 and 2009. I have a strong interest in organizational development and continually look forward to helping to grow Camp STIX in the future. I had the pleasure of serving on the DISH crew at camp last year, and look forward to another summer in the kitchen, if Munchkin will hire me? Camp STIX is a remarkable organization, serving the needs of kids and families in so many ways - it is an honor and a privilege to serve this great community.

My name is "Money" Megan Mize. I am a mom with three kids and have been a Holistic Health Practitioner for nearly a decade. I am so excited to be starting my first term on the board of directors for Camp STIX. My daughter, Izze, was diagnosed with Type-1-diabetes in February of 2009. She heard about Camp STIX at the hospital and was very excited about the idea. I was very nervous to have her out of my sight for a whole week, but decided it would be a great experience for her to around other children like her. It took one visit for me to be very impressed with the Camp STIX organization, and realized its importance in our diabetic community. During her week she leaned so much and it gave her a renewed sense of self. It was such a positive experience I wanted to help be a part of that. I volunteered to help out through the year and after 2010 had the privilege of being nominated to the board, and I am very happy to be working on behalf of Camp STIX for my daughter, and all of the other kids and families affected by diabetes.

Hello, my name is "Munchkin" Mike Lynch (aka Chipmunk). I am a proud co-founder and plank-holder of Camp STIX. I began serving on the board of directors at the time of camps inception and following an interim was re-elected to our board of directors in 2008. I have served on the program and auction committees, and currently serve on the development and media committees (website). I also chair the food services committee as the director of DISH. There are so many remarkable experiences and memories that make Camp STIX so special to me. As someone with type 1 diabetes I embrace the opportunity to serve on our board and help to create an empowering and exciting experience for our campers. The campers and volunteer staff continuously inspire me by their remarkable courage and compassion in assisting others to live successfully with diabetes.

Hello, my name is Sarah "Serendipity" Earnest, and I am a mother to a wonderful type 1 diabetic daughter, Rebekah. Since he diagnosis in 2007 she had been an inspiration to me. 2010 was our first year at Camp STIX, and it was helpful for her as she wasn't the only one there who had to check her blood sugar, count her carbs, or feel different. While I was there I helped on the Med Team, known as MASH, and got to see the campers and how diabetes affected them. The campers are an inspiration to me because of their bravery and compassion for each other. I am extremely happy to be on the Camp STIX board of directors and helping with the camp for my daughter, and future campers.

Hi! I'm Tim Seppa, and I go by "Target," at Camp STIX. I'm a pediatrician and I have two lovely Type 1 Diabetics in my family -- my wife (Kalculator) and my 12 year old daughter (Anna) -- both of whom come to camp each year. I have been serving as Camp Director and Medical Director, recently, and I hope to continue to help with making Camp STIX a safe and healthy place, with lots of good teamwork, learning and FUN! I invite you to join with us in Camp STIX activities -- as a volunteer, as a participant in our activities (like the auction, camp work days, etc.), as a Board Member or as a camper. It's a wonderful cause, and the folks who are part of the Camp STIX family are productive citizens and delightful friends!

Hi...my name is Tracy Drown. My daughter Nicky, was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes five years ago, when we were living in Germany. Nicky and I spent 14 days in the German hospital learning how to take care of her. Unfortunately, we have also learned really quickly about how diabetic children get treated differently. It has been a struggle to see Nicky go through being "different" in others eyes.
My family and I moved to Spokane three years ago after my husband retired from the military. That was the first year we sent Nicky to Camp STIX. Camp has made such an impact on my daughter's life, I wanted to give back to the people who gave Nicky the one thing I could not. As the Operations Area Supervisor for Kohl's and A-Team coordinator I have had the opportunity to work with the different non for profit organizations helping children in our area. My unique position at this company has enabled me to help my favorite organization, Camp STIX, receive grants and a team of volunteers, who have helped at the camp Work Weekend and Auction for the past three years. I am very active in our local community and volunteer in organizations that support what is very dear to my heart, kids. I am newly appointed to the board, and very excited about the upcoming years. Nicky and all the other children who wait all year to go back for one week at Camp STIX is the reason I stay involved with this organization.
